WHO'S NEXT : PARIS TEXAS

Words: Asa Campbell

'WHO'S NEXT': A focus on the undiscovered, connecting you to your new favourite artists.

Louis Pastel and Felix can do it all. Just 3 singles into their career the two have displayed ground-breaking versatility, hopping genres from energetic, experimental hip-hop to alternative rock and everything in between.

Straight out of South-Central LA, the emerging duo Paris Texas check all the boxes for exciting new rap groups, if you can even call them a rap group.

Louis Pastel and Felix can do it all. Just 3 singles into their career the two have displayed ground-breaking versatility, hopping genres from energetic, experimental hip-hop to alternative rock and everything in between.

Their first few tracks are a showcase of sublime instrumentals and seamless delivery; ‘HEAVY METAL’, ‘SITUATIONS’ and ‘FORCE OF HABIT’, are all as equally unique and engaging as one another, making it hard to pick a favourite from the bunch.

On their latest track, ‘FORCE OF HABIT’, the duo trade braggadocios verses over a roomy guitar and bass instrumental, rapping ‘Walk around like I’m the shit / I think it’s a force of habit’. The track is a perfect example of the unique, alluring ambience Paris Texas create.

Paris Texas’ creativity spills out from their music into their entire brand. The music videos for ‘FORCE OF HABIT’, ‘SITUATIONS’ and ‘HEAVY METAL’ are all pieces of art in their own right, with the narratives from each carrying over into short clips or themed pictures on their Instagram.

Paris Texas are already the finished article in my opinion, destined for the top of the music scene, now is the time to jump on the bandwagon. Although their discography is small at the moment, they have something for everyone, and you can expect even more genre-bending bangers from their latest project ‘BOY ANONYMOUS’ released earlier this year.
