"Gunn has shown why he is one of the most prolific rappers in the world."
Last Sunday (12 April), Westside Gunn revealed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and had beaten it. Despite offering no specific timeframe surrounding his bout with the virus, Gunn took to Instagram (in a now deleted post), stating that he had to “thug it out for weeks”, and we could not be happier that he is recovering so well.
Five days later and the Griselda member has brought us Pray For Paris; the timing really couldn’t have been any better. This project now marks his third album following his magnum opus, Supreme Blientele (2018). In between these albums, Gunn has shown why he is one of the most prolific rappers in the world. The work rate from the Buffalo rapper has been phenomenal. In 2019 he dropped a series of mixtapes, alongside being part of the remarkable debut album, WWCD, with Griselda. But this is just what Griselda does, each member is a machine that is constantly giving us product after product.
"Pray For Paris is an album that rap fanatics should most definitely be paying very close attention to."
The tracklist just goes to show how far Westside Gunn has progressed in his rap career. Most notably, there are features from Tyler, the Creator, Joey Bada$$, Freddie Gibbs, as well as production from Tyler himself and The Alchemist. One thing is for certain, Pray For Paris is an album that rap fanatics should most definitely be paying very close attention to.
