Another week has passed, and it seems more artists are taking this pause from normal life to focus on releases. Here are a few of our top picks this week.

'Secret' - 21 Savage feat. Summer Walker

The Queen of R&B joins 21 savage for surprise release 'Secret'.

'ted talk' - DEJA

Words - Milly Lupton

DEJA is one to watch for 2020 & beyond. Pop-infused R&B, gently fierce vocals and catchy lyrics make up a perfect debut for the young singer. Very excited to see where this goes.

'Pray For Paris' - Westside Gunn

Words - Nirav Doshi

This is the Westside Gunn album I’ve been waiting on for so long. The production is so immaculate, it is luxury rap at its finest. Gunn’s ear for beats on this album is crazy, with Tyler, the Creator, The Alchemist, DJ Premier and more, creating the perfect soundscape for the Buffalo rapper to excel on. The guest features on this album did not miss either, with particular standout verses from Joey Bada$$ on ‘327’ and Freddie Gibbs and Roc Marciano on ‘$500 Ounces’. This is already a strong contender for rap album of the year for me.

'327 (Ft. Joey Bada$$, Tyler, The Creator & Billie Essco)' - Westside Gunn

Words - Dinesh Mattu

What in the name of Backpack Rap is going on here then? Buffalo's very own Westside Gunn teams up with Billie Essco, Joey Bada$$ and Tyler, The Creator trading verses over a soulful piano loop and classic boom bap drums. It sounds like a cut that would slot in easily on Joey's 1999 mixtape, Tyler spits like he's back in his Odd Future days and I wouldn't be surprised if Curren$y jumped on a remix of this. Has we gone back to 2011? Either way, I for one am loving it. Released today, Westside Gunn's 'Pray For Paris' features label mates Benny The Butcher and Conway, with verses too from Freddie Gibbs and Wale with production from The Alchemist and DJ Premier.

'Y Pree' - M1llionz

Words - Milly Lupton

Birmingham rising talent M1llionz continues to deliver. Executing a flow only some could dream of, with a seamless beat change from Hargo, this track encapsulates the ever evolving genre that is drill. M1llionz is at the core of a fresh circle of drill artists on the come up.

'Nightrider (feat. Freddie Gibbs)' - Tom Misch & Yussef Dayes

Words - Dinesh Mattu

This is the collaboration I never knew I needed. Tom Misch, Yussef Dayes and Freddie Gibbs come together over one of the most hypnotising grooves of this quarantine. Smoother than philly cream cheese over a lightly toasted bagel, Misch's dulcet tones, Dayes' intermittent percussion and Gibbs' gravely bars are an absolute joy to the ears. Dayes' 'Black Focus' collaborator Tom Driessler's bass is the clincher and had me screwing my face in all sorts of ways, on loop for the whole afternoon. Having worked on the album for a couple of years I'm sure there'll be plenty more stankface when Misch and Dayes release their collaborative project 'What Kinda Music' next week.

'I Spy' - Lila Iké

Words - Milly Lupton

Reggae's rising superstar Lila Iké has only released a handful of tracks, but her talent is undeniable. Her pure vocals on the IzyBeats-produced track, and beautiful visuals of Jamaica in the video directed by Danny Williams will have you dreaming of a time post-lockdown. 'I Spy' is the first published single from a recently formed deal between RCA Records and the In.Digg.Nation Collective. Her debut EP is said to drop in May of this year, we'll keep you posted.
